Ode To A Steakhouse

The following was written about a South Philly. landmark, "Geno's Steaks." Joe Vento, the owner
and my cousin, has operated at this location since 1966. Prior to that, his father, 'Jim Steaks' operated at
the same location from the 1940's. I worked there when he first opened and then off and on for a few years.

The 'night shift' lives were told with grace
Now it's the 'day shifts' turn to take up some space

We shine the counters, mirrors and tile
It shows Joey V we work with style

Our coffee is fresh and always 'hot'
Thanks to Andrea and Kelly at the pot

With Grasshopper Don and Rita Emm
Hoagies, pork and meatballs are really a gem

Ask Petee Flip and Jeffrey Rap
They get our steaks out in a snap

Last but not least 'HE' takes all the heat
Our manager Jimmy can't be beat
