'Rest In Peace'

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You gave me life some years ago
And watched me grow to be
Something that you liked I hope
For you always meant something to me
You worked so hard that I might have
All the things you wanted me to
And now as I think of them
I can feel nothing but blue
We never did things like others did
But I loved you just the same
Cause you showed your love in other ways
For this I give you no blame
The day I left to see the world
I saw sorrow in your eyes
But you let me go just the same
From then you had only sighs
The day I said that I would wed
You looked so proud at me
And asked if I really loved the one
The daughter to you would be
Although you won't be here
On that joyous day
You know we'll be thinking of you
When the words 'to wed' we'll say
Today we sent you back to God
For this I am truly sad
But 'proud' of you I'll always be
Cause you're the best,----My DAD
The background music is entitled 'You'll Never Walk Alone' by Elvis Presley.
When I was 4 years old, my Dad sang this song to me when I went to see him perform at a club in Lewistown, Pa.
